Our clinical staff offers a wide range of clinical skills and experiences in specific areas of clinical expertise. We provide a full range of psychiatric/mental health services, including:

  • In-patient psychiatric hospitalization
  • Partial psychiatric hospitalization
  • Out-patient psychotherapy
  • Individual therapy

Handrup and Associates offers expert evaluation and treatment of:

Depression Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, Eating Disorders, Family and Relationship problems.

All of our staff are individually licensed in their respected disciplines, and have many years of experience. You may work with only one of our clinical staff members, or may see more than one. For example, a psychiatrist may evaluate you, prescribe and monitor medication, while you see a psychiatric social worker for psychotherapy.

The clinical staff includes:

Psychiatrists: Medical doctors (M.D.): Clinicians with a medical degree and up to five years of psychiatric residency training after medical school in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric problems and disorders. Our doctors have admitting privleges at St. Joseph Hospital, St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital and Chicago Lakeshore Hospital. Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialists (APRN): Clinicians with a Master degree in Psychiatric Nursing, advanced training as mental health specialists, licensed and certified to provide psychotherapy and prescribe medication in collaboration with a psychiatrist. Dr. Cynthia Taylor Handrup also has a doctorate in nursing practice. Psychiatric Social Workers (LCSW): Clinicians with a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW), advanced training as mental health specialists, and licensed as to provide direct mental health care.
